At Miller CAT we focus on advanced manufacturing techniques to deliver the best option in catalytic converter theft prevention
As the only in-house manufacturer of catalytic converter theft protection devices, we control the whole process when the raw material comes into our facilities. We inspect each part and ensure your products are made with the utmost attention to quality and precision.
We make the best catalytic converter security product with the best value
However, we do not make a cosmetic product and our shields can come with surface imperfections that come from the raw material or manufacturing process. Our first priority is making the best shield and keeping costs as low as possible for the consumer. With those two goals in mind, we cannot guarantee the shields won’t have scratches or residue from cutting fluid or imprints from the punch tools.
If we tried to make a cosmetic product, the costs for everyone would go up and it would have no impact on the performance of the shield. Exhaust related products need to have high thermal properties and be able to resist corrosion, therefore the material that is ideal for this type of application is not meant to shine or be for show.
What we can promise is that we carefully choose the type of material we use and continually improve our manufacturing process whenever possible.
Here are a few examples of what you might see with our Cat Shields and why it is done the way it is done.
Punching vs laser cutting
Below is an example of the cutting fluid we use. This ensures the longevity of the punching tool and accuracy of the hole that is made. The reason why we punch our holes as opposed to laser cutting it is because punches are more accurate and have less burr to it. If we were to laser cut these holes, there is a greater chance of inaccurate cuts and leaving the slugs inside.
